The event entitled ‘A Gift of Love” was conceived by Shalga Hightower, mother of victim, Iofemi Hightower and will be held at the Ivy Hill Park Memorial Gardens just a few hundred feet from where the students were attacked.
The students, Iofemi Hightower, Dashon Harvey, Terrance Aeriel, and lone survivor, Natasha Ariel will all be honored at the ceremony.
The memorial will feature remarks from Natasha Ariel, elected officials Ras Baraka and Ron Rice, Jr., members of the prosecutor’s office, a motorcade processional, light refreshments and entertainment along with a candle light vigil for 3 slain youth, Trayvon Martin, and all killed by gun violence from 2007 to the present.
Pastor of Christian Love Baptist Church, Rev. Ron Christian, will also deliver remarks on living from tragedy to triumph with the program focusing on education, preventative advocacy, support, and legislation.
